Glossybox Unboxing! July 2013

Hey everyone!

My parents treated me to a glossybox as part of my birthday present, I'll be putting up my presents when I recieve the ones from my mum (I'll be seeing her soon ^^)

Here it is! :D

This month's theme is "Seaside Splash", the box design is just STUNNING! I love the aquatic blue and coral colours, so summery ^^

What I got ^^

Left to Right-

Coola Mineral Face SPF 20 Rose Essence Tint- A tinted moisturiser that claims to tone, sooth, minimise pores, and protect from sun damage and ageing. Due to the anti-ageing part of it, I may give it to my step-mum. ^^

Alterna Haircare Bamboo Style Boho Waves Tousled Texture Mist- I am so excited to use this! My hair is so falt and dull. It claims to add texture, volume, and shine to all hair types.

Anatomicals Spray "Misty for Me" Facial Spritz- Another thing to pack for my holiday. The lavender and peppermint is so refreshing! Another winner :3

Pukka Ayurveda Radience Serum- Claims to give that coveted "summer glow", full of lovely aloe vera and manuka honey, gotu kola and lemon balm which claim to tone and brighten your complexion. It sounds too good to be true ^^

Ciate London Paint Pot in Pocket Money- A really nice rosy nude ^^ I have wanted to try one of the Ciate Paint Pots for so long!! I'm excited to try it out :)

Some info about the products

Just realised that the box matches my nails xD

Overall- This has been a great first glossybox experience! I'm really excited to try all the products (except one). Hopefully I can get some more ^^

But seriously...how beautiful is this box design?

Lots of love, Laura xx

Sephora Haul: From my trip to Venice ^^

Hey everyone!

I went to Venice for a few days with school and I was determined to go shopping in Sephora, as we don't have any in the U.K. *crys* I just wanted to show you all the few things that I bought, including two things I picked up at the airport.

I will be doing a post with a few of the pictures I took in Venice so stay tuned for that ^^

I tried to only look at brands that we can't get in the U.K. but they had some reduced high end products and I just couldn't resist xD

Pupa "Like a Doll" Cream Blush in 202 Doll Peach (made in Italy :3)-
Damn this blush is puuuurrtttyyyyyyyy (pretty), a stunning orangy coral with golden shimmer which I'm hoping will give a lovely radiant finish. A gorgeous summery colour ^^

Of course I had to try a Sephora product! These were both reduced to 3 euros each.

Sephora Liner Electro in 02 Metal Electro-
A nice metallic silver kohl eyeliner. I actually thought it was a grey colour but oh well, silver is always nice.

Sephora Kohl and Liner Waterproof in 03 Keep Brown-
This colour is so pretty! It's a really nice brown that has a bronze sheen, I've been really into brown eyes lately ^^

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Waterproof Eye Pencil in Oil Slick-
I have wanted one of these pencils for sooooo long! It was reduced to 12 euros in Sephora so I couldn't resist. I got Oil Slick which is a grey/black with a silver shimmer, it's really nice, I can't wait to test its durability ^^ My first Urban Decay product :)

Benefit Silky-finish Lipstick in Skinny Dip-
I got this reduced to 12.50 euros which I thought was a great deal, but when I got home I saw you could get it on the website for £7 because they are being discontinued -_- oh well. It's a lovely natural pink brown, my perfect lipstick shade! And my first Benefit lippie.

Testers- Lily fragrance by Stella McCartney-
Why don't Boots give you free testers? It's such a cool idea. Anyway, this perfume is just gorgeous, it's sweet and floral but oddly quite mature as well.
Sephora Instant Moisturiser (unused)
Sephora Smoothing Primer (unused)

L'oreal Paris True Match Powder in Golden Beige-
A nice silky face powder that I got at the airport because my Stay Matte one broke the day before and L'oreal had an offer on. Full review coming soon!
And L'oreal Paris True Match Touche Magique Concealor in Ivory Beige-
Got this half price ^^ I've tried it a few times and I quite like it, full review soon!

That's it! See you soon ^^
Lots of love, Laura xx

Review: MUA Powder Blush new shades! In Bon Bon, Cupcake, & Candyfloss

Hey everyone!
Top to bottom- Bon Bon, Cupcake, Candyfloss
Today I have a quick review of the brand new Make Up Academy powder blushes!

I picked up three of the six shades (Bon Bon, Candyfloss, & Cupcake).

 Swatches
L to R- Bon Bon, Cupcake, Candyfloss
As you can see from the swatches, Candyfloss is quite weak in pigmentation and a tad patchy but Bon Bon and Cupcake are pigemented nicely. I did find that the blushes were a bit chalky when I swatched them but they are actually really soft and nice to apply.

The blushes-
Bon Bon- A pretty matte pink blush with coral undertones. A really nice colour for summer.
Cupcake- A really nice matte pink peach nude blush. It's so natural and gives a gorgeous flush to the cheeks. Probably my favourite out of the three. I thought it would be a great dupe for Sleek's "Suede" blush.
Candyfloss- I really want to love this blush!! It's a gorgeous pink with lilac undertones, a colour I've been loving lately, but it's too sheer to be appreciated -_- My least favourite of the three. It has a very subtle bit of shimmer.

My face fashioning Cupcake ^^
Overall, I really like Cupcake but I find Bon Bon and Candyfloss a bit hard to work with, Bon Bon is a bit to bright for my liking but is nice when sheered it, however, I find it difficult to get a nice even distribution on the skin.

The main issue I found with these is the fallout! It's terrible! I like to apply my blush with a fluffy face brush but one sweep on the pan causes a lot of fallout (see picture below). I find that it wasn't so bad with a denser brush but it's still pretty bad.

Also, the packing...the clasp on Cupcake broke as soon as I opened it. It feels really cheap and flimsy (they are only £1 I guess but the old packaging is practical, at least!)

I do love the new colours but I really feel like MUA have downgraded with these blushes! Especially when the old ones are so amazing! I expected great things but MUA really didn't deliver this time, as much as it pains me to say it.

Lots of love, Laura xx

FashionistA Custom Design Palette: Sultry, Golden Dragon, Bella, & Butterscotch- Review and Swatches

Hey everyone!

I am soooooo excited to share my latest beauty purchase with you.
I have wanted one of the FashionistA palette for absolutely ages- it was one of those things I always said I'd buy next time I went to Superdrug, but I never would.

I saw that FashionistA were having a sale in which you could fill a quad palette with any of their many (around 50 I think) eyeshadows/blushes for £10. Considering the single eyeshadow/blushes are £4 and the palette is £5, that's a saving of £11 for this palette. AMAZING!!!!

I got the red palette, black is also avaliable, it looks so sleek and feels really sturdy- it definitely feels like it's worth a lot more than a fiver!

The eyeshadows/blush come separately in these dinky black containers, which, will less glamorous than the palette, still feel really sturdy and quite expensive.

The containers don't come with a mirror, but a little window so the shade can be easily viewed.

The eyeshadow pops out of the container like shown above ^^

Each of the eyeshadows are wuite large, you get 2.5g of product which is more than companies like MAC provide. I have included the 10p above to show a size comparision.

Anyway...onto the shades

The colours I got were (clockwise from the top left)-
- Bella (eyeshadow)
- Sultry (eyeshadow)
- Butterscotch (blush)
- Golden Dragon (eyeshadow)

 Bella-

How gorgeous is this shade?! I was intending on getting two blush and two eyeshadow but I saw this and just HAD to have it. This would be the perfect highlight for the inner corners/tear duct area of my eyes, to make them brighter ^^

Look at that gold! It's stunning!
Sultry-

I love this colour so much! It's a beautiful metallic marron, purple toned eyeshadow. It's not too sparkly and oh-so-creamy feeling. This color will be perfect for winter/autumn or any party looks ^^

Butterscotch-

I was actually intending on getting the "New York" blush, but it was sold out (next time it will be mine). It isn't at all chalky, it isn't sheer, but it isn't overly pigmented (which usually results in the infamous "clown" look). This is a really nice, natural pink blush with quite peachy undertones- a lot more than you would expect from looking at the pan. I really like this! It's perfect for my pale complexion ^^

Golden Dragon

For some reason I was drawn to this shade, despite the fact I never really wear greens, but it's just so pretty! It was literally love and first swatch. This shade is also really creamy and the gold makes the green really flattering. Another stunner!

It's...so...pretty...
Swatches-

Holy pigment, these really do have a lovely colour pay-off and the colours are so flattering! They have a gorgeous shine to them and the application is so creamy (I feel like the adjective "buttery" is appropriate here)

I'm going to have so much fun with these and I will definitely be buying more. They are fabulous quality and so inexpensive, with the offers that always seem to be avaliable in this range.

You can only seem to get the "quad palette for £10" offer in Superdrug stores, however, you can view the range here.

I'll be uploading some FOTD's featuring this palette in the near future.

Lots of love, Laura xx

Review: Rimmel Traffic Stopping Eyeshadow in "No Parking"

Hey everyone!

A quick review for you today of the Rimmel "Traffic Stopping Shadow" trio in No Parking.

First things first, I LURV Rimmel make up products! Their lipsticks are some of the best quality of a budget brand I have ever tried and I have tried a lot.

I actually didn't buy this, a friend gave it to me. To be honest, I wouldn't choose purple eyeshadow if I had to buy some eyeshadow, but I thought it may be handy to have some purples in my collection.

Swatches-

Top- With primer, Bottom- With primer and a damp brush
As you can see, the pigmention isn't brilliant. The shadow itself is not really chalky but more dusty, if they makes any sense. Either way, there is quite a lot of fallout.

I love it when there's a little guide. Perfect for make up novices.

FOTD using the eyeshadow
Yeah, I need to clean that mirror...remind me, will you? xD

Overall, I'm not impressed with this product. The look I achieved above I like, but I really had to pack the eyeshadow on to achieve it, which I really don't have the time or patience to do.

Rimmel has really been let down by their eyeshadow quality. I'm so sad D:

Lots of love, Laura xx
